SF Champions/SF Soldiers' Tryouts for our Spring/Summer 2026 season will be held in February.  After you are registered, a spot will be reserved for you to attend the tryouts.  You will be notified about specific tryout dates and locations for each grade via email/text and/or our website once the schedule for tryouts is finalized.
 

• To be considered for any of our teams, you must register for and attend our tryouts!

• The Tryout Schedule is "Tentative" and may change so, check back here for changes.

​​​​​​​​​SFC's Tryouts include sessions for 3rd - 12th grade boys and specific grades for girls.  Our tryout sessions include full skills training by our main coaching staff, led by our Skills Development specialists. This  provides our staff with a well-rounded evaluation of each prospective player for placement on any one of our teams. 

This format will also provide you with an introduction to our training methods and coaching so you can determine if SFC is right for you.  For this to work though, we need each player to attend ALL the Tryout/Skills sessions listed for their age/grade.

Players attending SFC's tryouts are put through a full workout that includes the following:

✓ Scrimmages

The Spring-Summer 2026 season is nearly here! As we approach tryouts, we are more energized than ever about the opportunities awaiting our players.

20 Years of Champions Basketball!

​

June 2026 marks our 20th anniversary in Youth Basketball Development! For over two decades, we have been pioneers in providing comprehensive player development, and we are committed to elevating that standard as we move forward.

The SF Champions x SF Soldiers Partnership

​

We are thrilled to announce that SF Champions has partnered with one of the most prestigious names in AAU basketball: The Oakland Soldiers. By uniting SF Champions and SF Soldiers, we are creating the ultimate pathway for our players, combining elite skill development with unparalleled regional/national exposure.

• 7th & 8th Grade Boys (SFC Soldiers): Our top-tier teams will compete in the prestigious MADE Hoops Circuit. We will also continue to field high-level Champions Elite teams to compete in premier travel tournaments.

• 8th Grade Girls (Lady SFC Soldiers): Under the direction of Coach Howard Hines, our 8th-grade girls will compete in the Jr. EYBL Nike Circuit. We are proud to be one of the few Bay Area programs with access to this elite circuit.

• High School (15U & 16U SFC Soldiers): Our HS teams will compete in the new MADE Hoops West HS Circuit, providing our players access to the strongest recruiting network on the West Coast.

• 6th Grade & Below: These teams will maintain the SF Champions branding. To support our families, we are focusing on local development with fewer travel tournaments—reducing costs while preparing players to transition into the Soldiers program by 7th grade.
   

Practice & Skill Development

We believe we are "Stronger Together," which is why we prioritize training at a centralized location to build a true community.

• Team Practices (2nd–8th Grade): Held Tuesdays and Thursdays at Elite Sports Center 2 (415 E. Grand Ave, South SF). Each team practices twice weekly and includes dedicated strength and conditioning sessions.

• Skills Development: All players are invited to two additional skill sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays. To assist with logistics, we are offering two locations:

• South SF: Elite Sports Center 2

• San Francisco: Riordan HS and/or The Boys & Girls Club of SF (Don Fisher Campus). Stay tuned for more exciting news on this!
   

Return of Mindfulness
 

After a three-year hiatus, we are proud to bring Mindfulness back to our curriculum. Coach Jason Gant returns as our Athletic Behavior Skills Coach. Coach Gant brings a wealth of experience from his work with Cal Berkeley Athletics, the University of Wisconsin, and various pro organizations.
